Sharp by Dylan provides hand sharpening of knives and scissors using Japanese whetstones. Results vary depending on the condition, steel quality, and original geometry of the blade.
Sharpening does not restore blades with structural damage — including broken tips, deep chips, or severe warping — to new condition, though improvement is typical in most cases.
Blades are accepted on the basis that any pre-existing damage — including chips, cracks, bent tips, corrosion, or thinned spines — is noted at collection where visible.
Sharp by Dylan is not responsible for pre-existing damage. If you believe damage occurred during sharpening, contact me within 48 hours of return and I'll assess it fairly.
Tip: If your blade has known damage, mention it at booking or collection so it can be noted before work begins.
If you're not satisfied with the result, I'll resharpen at no charge. This is a genuine practical commitment — not a guarantee of any specific outcome.
It does not cover dissatisfaction arising from the inherent limitations of a blade, such as low-quality steel, excessive wear, or expectations that exceed what the blade's geometry or condition allows.
Standard turnaround is 24 hours from collection. This is a target, not a guaranteed deadline — delays can occur, and you'll be notified promptly if they do.
Rush orders are completed on a best-effort basis and are subject to schedule availability at the time of booking.
To the extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, Sharp by Dylan's liability for any claim arising from this service is limited to the cost of the service provided.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy you hold under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Consumer guarantees apply.
This means your statutory rights are fully intact. The limitation above only applies where the law permits it — which is not everywhere.
Payment is due on return of your items. Accepted methods: card tap (EFTPOS), cash, bank transfer (BSB/Acc), or PayID. An invoice is sent at the time of return.
Items may be withheld pending payment if a booking is completed and payment is not made at the agreed time.
Your knives and scissors are handled with care throughout the entire process — collection, sharpening, and return.
You agree to present blades safely at collection — wrapped in a cloth, in a block, or otherwise secured. Sharp by Dylan is not liable for injuries arising from unsafe presentation of blades by the customer.
